If you’re an adrenaline junkie looking for a skydiving experience in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth, Siquijor Island in the Philippines needs to be on your list. This island isn’t just stunning from the ground—it’s absolutely unreal from the sky. In March, I had the chance to jump with Skydive Siquijor, and let me tell you, seeing this magical island from above was next-level. If you’re thinking about doing it, don’t hesitate—this is one of those bucket list moments you won’t regret.
Why Siquijor?

Siquijor is one of the lesser-known islands in the Philippines, which is honestly what makes it so special. Unlike Siargao, El Nido, Coron, or other well-known Filipino travel destinations, Siquijor is quieter, more peaceful, and has this indescribable energy about it. It’s known as the “Island of Healing,” and whether you believe in that kind of thing or not, there’s no denying that this place just feels different in the best way possible.
Beyond its reputation for magic and healing, Siquijor is packed with insane landscapes—mountains with unreal viewpoints, some of the bluest water you’ll ever see, coral reefs bursting with marine life, countless waterfalls, and untouched beaches. The island itself is pretty small, which makes it perfect for exploring, but what better way to see it all at once than from 10,000 feet in the air?
How to Get to Siquijor
Getting to Siquijor isn’t as straightforward as flying in, which is part of what keeps the island less touristy. The airport here doesn’t operate regular flights, meaning the only way to get in is by ferry. The most common routes are:
• Cebu → Bohol → Siquijor (about 4.5 hours in total)
• Dumaguete → Siquijor (the quickest and easiest route)
Once you arrive, Skydive Siquijor is super accessible—about 10 minutes from both the Siquijor Port and San Juan, the island’s main tourist area.
The Skydiving Experience

Skydive Siquijor operates right next to the airport, and the whole setup is simple but well-organized. When you arrive, you’ll check in, sign all the paperwork, and watch a safety video. You’ll also meet your instructor (if you’re doing a tandem dive), get weighed and measured, and go through a full safety briefing so you know exactly what to expect.
After getting geared up and fitted into your harness, you’ll take a short ride to the airport’s entrance. Walking through this completely empty airport is kind of surreal—it’s not in operation, so it feels like you’re in an abandoned building, but in a cool, eerie way.
The Plane & The Climb to 10,000 Feet

If you’ve skydived before, you might be used to bigger planes with bench seating, but this plane is tiny—which makes it feel even more intense. You’ll be sitting (or more like lying down) super close to your instructor and any other divers on board. It’s a snug fit, but honestly, that just adds to the experience.
The climb takes about 15–20 minutes, and the views on the way up are insane. You’ll get a whole new perspective of Siquijor—the lush mountain tops, the bright turquoise coral reefs, and even glimpses of Dumaguete in the distance. It’s a slow buildup of anticipation, and with every thousand feet you climb, the adrenaline kicks in more and more.
The Jump

Once you hit altitude, your instructor will do a final safety check, and then it’s go time. If this is your first jump, here’s what to expect:
• The door opens, and the wind rushes in, making everything feel real.
• You inch toward the edge, heart racing.
• And then—you drop.
The freefall lasts about 20 seconds, but in the moment, it feels like time completely slows down. You’re plummeting toward the Earth, the wind roaring in your ears, and your body is in full fight-or-flight mode—except instead of fear, you feel pure freedom. It’s a mix of screaming, laughing, and feeling completely alive in a way that’s impossible to describe unless you’ve done it.
The moment the parachute deploys, everything shifts. The rush slows down, and suddenly you’re just floating over one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. Depending on your instructor, you might even get to steer the parachute for a bit, which is such a cool experience.
When I jumped, it was actually super cloudy, which made it even more surreal. We fell straight into a thick layer of clouds, and for a few seconds, it felt like we were just falling into nothingness. Then, we broke through the clouds, and the island came into view beneath us—lush greens, deep blues, and every shade of turquoise imaginable. That moment alone made the entire experience worth it.
The Landing & Post-Dive Experience

Landing is smooth and easy—your instructor will guide you through it, and before you know it, you’re back on solid ground, buzzing with adrenaline. But the experience doesn’t end there. The Skydive Siquijor team is incredible—super welcoming, professional, and just as excited about your jump as you are. They create such a fun atmosphere, whether you’re jumping or just watching others take the leap.
And the best part? You get your photos and videos almost instantly. The staff at reception work crazy fast to send everything over, and the footage is insane. If you book the basic tandem package, you’ll get GoPro footage from your instructor’s hand camera, plus a raw video and a short edited montage. But if you want even better footage, you can upgrade to outside camera footage (where another diver films your jump) or even a 360° camera option for a full panoramic view.
Final Thoughts: Why You Should Skydive in Siquijor

Skydiving is one of those things you can do all over the world, but where you do it makes a huge difference. I’ve now jumped in two of the most beautiful locations—Hawaii and Siquijor—and both were unforgettable in their own way. But what made Siquijor stand out wasn’t just the landscape; it was the whole vibe of the island, the insanely small-plane jump, and the incredible people running it.
If you’re looking for an adventure that will leave you speechless, this is it. Siquijor is already a special place, but seeing it from the sky? That’s an experience you’ll never forget.
